Calgary moving company
Professional movers in Calgary for homes, apartments and businesses
VC Movers is a Calgary moving company operating since 2018. Our crews work across NW, NE, SW and SE Calgary every day, and out to Airdrie, Okotoks, Cochrane, Chestermere, High River, Strathmore and the towns around the city. We handle residential moves, apartment and condo moves, commercial and office relocations, senior moves, packing, piano and specialty items, furniture and single-item moves, same-day and last-minute moves, and long-distance moves across Alberta and beyond.
Our pricing is published and simple. Two movers and a truck are $130 an hour, three movers $170, four movers $230, plus one hour for the truck, with a two-hour minimum. Blankets, dollies, straps, shrink wrap and basic furniture disassembly are included, and there is no fuel surcharge, no equipment rental and no stair fee. A one-bedroom apartment usually lands between $520 and $650 all-in; a three-bedroom house between $1,190 and $1,700. The full breakdown and an estimator are on what movers cost in Calgary.
We carry cargo and liability insurance and issue a certificate of insurance to your building or condo corporation on request. We are rated 5.0 from 108 Google reviews, we run crews 24/7 including evenings, weekends and holidays, and we hold capacity for short-notice work. Call 587-966-1551 or send the form for a written quote the same day - usually within the hour.
If you are comparing moving companies in Calgary, compare the written quote rather than the headline rate: ours lists the crew size, the hours and the one-hour truck fee. That is the affordable, reliable version of a moving price - the one you actually pay.

|---|---|---|---|

Reliable movers in Calgary
Why people book VC Movers
Every reason below is something you can verify before you call - not an adjective.
- Published rates. $130, $170 and $230 an hour by crew size, plus one truck hour. The same numbers on every page, and on the invoice.
- A written quote with the crew size and the hours. If a bigger crew lowers your total, we say so before you book.
- Insured, and able to prove it. Cargo and liability coverage, with a certificate of insurance sent to your building or condo corporation on request.
- Rated 5.0 from 108 Google reviews. Read them on Google, not just here.
- Crews 24/7, with capacity held for short notice. Evenings, weekends and holidays at the same rates; same-day when a crew is free.
- Protection before lifting. Runners, jamb padding, blankets and wrap go down first - damage happens in doorways, not in the truck.

Commercial
We plan business moves backwards from your opening hour
A business move is measured in hours of lost revenue, not hours of labour. Desks come apart Friday evening, workstations go back together Sunday, and nobody loses a billable day.
- Evening, overnight and weekend crews
- Colour-coded labelling by department and desk
- Certificate of insurance issued to your building manager
- Freight elevator and loading dock booked in advance
Free quote
Tell us the stairs and we'll tell you the price
Same-day reply, usually within the hour. No walkthrough needed for most moves - room count, both addresses and your date is enough for a number you can hold us to.
- No fuel surcharge or equipment fees
- Certificate of insurance sent to your building
- Same-day and short-notice crews available

Why Calgary moves go wrong
Almost every moving complaint in this city traces back to one of three things: a quote that was never realistic, a crew too small for the stairs, or surcharges nobody mentioned until the truck was loaded. None of those are accidents. They are what happens when a company competes on the headline hourly rate and makes the margin back somewhere else.
The quote that was never realistic
A two-bedroom condo on the third floor of a Bankview walk-up is not the same job as a two-bedroom bungalow in Riverbend with the truck ten feet from the door. Square footage tells you almost nothing. We quote on room count, stair flights, carry distance and elevator access, because those are the four things that actually consume hours.
The crew that was too small
Two movers at $130/hr looks cheaper than three at $170/hr right until the third-floor walk-up turns a six-hour job into a ten-hour one. Two movers for ten hours costs more than three for six. When the maths favours a bigger crew, we tell you.
The surcharges nobody mentioned
Fuel surcharges, equipment rental, stair fees, heavy-item fees, travel time billed at the hourly rate in both directions. Every one of those is a way of advertising a rate you will never actually pay. Ours is the hourly rate plus one hour for the truck, and that is the whole list.
What we won't do
We will not move hazardous materials - propane, gasoline, paint, aerosols or ammunition. We will not quote a firm price without knowing the stairs. And we will not tell you a four-bedroom house is a six-hour job just to win the booking. If a quote you have sounds too good, ask that company to put the crew size and time range in writing.
Questions
Calgary moving questions, answered
How much do movers cost in Calgary?
In Calgary, two movers and a truck typically run $120-$180 per hour, three movers $170-$220, and four movers $230-$280. VC Movers charges $130, $170 and $230 per hour respectively, plus a one-hour truck fee, with two hours of work minimum. A one-bedroom apartment usually lands between $520 and $650 all-in; a three-bedroom house between $1,190 and $1,700.
How far in advance should I book a mover in Calgary?
Book two to three weeks ahead for a month-end date or any Saturday, since those fill first. Mid-month weekdays are usually available with a few days' notice. For same-day or next-day moves, phone rather than email - we hold some capacity for short-notice work.
What is the cheapest day to move in Calgary?
A weekday in the middle of the month is the cheapest, because demand is lowest and crews are not rushed. The last three days of any month and every Saturday are the most expensive and the hardest to book. Moving on a Tuesday the 12th instead of Saturday the 30th can save you real money.
Do Calgary movers charge extra for stairs or elevators?
We do not charge a separate stair or elevator fee. Stairs and elevator waits take time and you are billed hourly, so we account for them in the estimate instead of adding a surprise line item. Ask any mover to confirm this in writing - undisclosed stair fees are one of the most common complaints in the industry.
Are movers required to be licensed and insured in Alberta?
Alberta does not license movers the way it licenses trades, which is exactly why you should verify coverage yourself. Ask for proof of cargo and liability insurance before you book. VC Movers carries both and will issue a certificate of insurance naming your building or condo corporation on request.
What will movers not take?
We cannot transport propane tanks, gasoline, paint, aerosols, ammunition, fireworks or other hazardous materials, and we recommend you personally carry cash, jewellery, passports and medications. Everything else - including pianos, safes, appliances and hot tubs - we can handle with the right equipment and notice.
Should I tip movers in Calgary?
Tipping is not expected and never built into our rate. If a crew does exceptional work, $10-$20 per mover per hour is a common gesture in Calgary. Feedback and a Google review help us more than cash does.
How long does a move take?
With a properly sized crew and everything boxed in advance: a one-bedroom apartment takes 3-4 hours, a two-bedroom 4-6 hours, a three-bedroom house 6-9 hours, and a four-bedroom house 8-12 hours. Stairs, long carries, elevator waits and unpacked rooms are what push a move past the estimate.
